Summary

Ambertail Games is an independent games studio based in the heart of Belfast, Northern Ireland. We’re looking for a talented Unity Developer to help us make Amber Isle as fun and as performant as possible. As a part of our small team, you’ll become a key member in crafting what we hope will be something extraordinary.

Since this is such a key role, we’re only seeking applicants based in Northern Ireland at this time, who are capable of working in-house alongside the rest of our team!


Working within our Programming Team, you’ll help to implement content, key game systems, and contribute towards improving our overall workflow.


You will be responsible for helping to build efficient tools and systems for games and improve aspects of the game development process, while also having the freedom to explore and suggest your own ideas and approaches.


Our ideal candidate is passionate, self-motivated, and technically minded. If you enjoy in-depth systems and technical challenges, this could be the role for you!

Responsibilities

  • Working with the programming team to develop new features and refine existing features for our current and future titles.

  • Writing efficient, clear, readable and maintainable code.

  • Implementing a wide variety of game features in Unity using C#.

  • Building game systems that are performant across a wide range of platforms.

  • Debugging problems, making builds, and helping to ship successful games.

  • Optionally: Developing other tools outside of Unity to improve the asset pipeline for our artists. (A chance to experiment with other tools and languages).

Experience & Skills

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of Unity and C#.

  • Experience following and adhering to code and development standards.

  • At least one year’s experience working as a Unity Developer in the games industry, or significant demonstrable experience outside of work.

  • Experience with version control.

  • Ability to self-manage tasks and priorities.

  • Ability to work efficiently and be proactive with time management.

  • Practical organisation skills and the ability to follow established conventions.

  • A great team player, willing to work collaboratively and receive feedback or guidance from the rest of the team.

  • Must be based in Northern Ireland.


Nice to Have:

  • Have at least one released game credit.

  • Experience with Unity’s Universal Render Pipeline.

  • Experience building editor tools for Unity.

  • Experience using Conventional Commits.

  • Knowledge and love for all things dinosaur/palaeontology is always a bonus!
